- “Riveting…fabulous…informative…moving.”
- “This film was powerful because it put words to names, faces to words. I felt that we heard the story from the source.”
- “It made me think about paying more attention to the ‘small cases’ that may be so wrong but not publicized as broadly.”
- “This film should be shown in schools, churches, synagogues.”
These reactions are representative of the feedback we received from those who attended the January premiere of our film version of CARRY IT FORWARD: Celebrate the Children of Resistance. This 90-minute video captures the majority of the dramatic program the RFC staged in 2013 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Rosenbergs’ executions and celebrate the courage of activist families who continue that tradition of resistance today. (Artwork and photos have been added to enhance the live footage.)
Angela Davis narrates, and Eve Ensler and Cotter Smith star as Ethel and Julius Rosenberg. Robert and Michael Meeropol recount what it was like to grow up as the Rosenbergs’ sons. Jenn Meeropol discusses what motivated her to assume the leadership of the RFC and carry the work forward to a new generation of activists, supporters, and children. And a host of other cast members bring to life the stories of current RFC beneficiary families and progressive struggles, via acted vignettes, poetry and song.
We hope to bring this film to select venues around the country in 2014. If you’d like to organize a screening in your town, please contact the RFC office at (413) 529-0063 or info@rfc.org. To view the film online go to: http://youtu.be/fahmAcS59Xk
