Immigrants’ Rights Defendants Face Decades in Prison $6600 for camp, school supplies, a Carry it Forward (CIF) award [1] and two Attica Prison Visit grants [2] for three children, ages 14-23, from two families. After attending a protest for immigrant rights outside a major ICE detention center, the parents were labelled ANTIFA and convicted of terrorism, rioting and conspiracy. They have been torn from their families and sentenced to a combined 200 years in prison. TX

Bruce Miller Legacy Fund Grant Activist Professor Doxxed by Fascist $3000 for soccer and music lessons for two kids, ages 11 and 15, whose father was secretly recorded and doxxed by a fascist Youtuber. After cutting and editing together the father’s talk on organizing, the Youtuber claimed he was “calling for overthrowing the government” and began a smear campaign that led to him being fired illegally from a tenured position in academia. Government Targets Professor $1500 for childcare and music lessons for the three year-old daughter of an award-winning professor and author who was targeted by her state’s government for “pushing radical race and gender ideology.” When her university, under government pressure, tried to fire her illegally and failed, they deemed her “unfit to serve” in order to push her out of her position indefinitely. CIVIL LIBERTIES

Fathers Falsely Accused $8700 for homeschooling expenses, a scooter and two CIF awards for seven children, ages 11 to 24, from two related families. Their fathers spoke out against the Iraq war and were falsely accused of terrorist activity and hunted by the FBI as a result. GA

Mother Surveilled $6000 for travel expenses to reunite with family for three children, ages seven to 14, whose mom faced harassment and surveillance for advocating for political prisoners unjustly targeted in the U.S. “war on terror.” MA

Activists Forced Out of Work $3600 for tutoring, therapy and a CIF award for three children, ages seven to 19, from two families whose parents were fired for advocating for racial justice and free press rights. CA, MI

Mom Targeted $2000 for dance and tutoring for the 10 year-old girl whose mom went public about being stopped by a Customs and Border Patrol agent because she was speaking Spanish. She took legal action and had to move to escape the harassment she endured for speaking out. Location Withheld

Journalist Stabbed $1500 for tutoring for the 12 year-old daughter whose father, a journalist, was attacked while covering a neo-Nazi rally. He was arrested and had his camera confiscated while his attacker walked free. CA

Anti-Fascist Protester Imprisoned $1500 for tuition for the four year-old son whose father was imprisoned for throwing a folding chair in self defense while protesting a rally of armed and violent white supremacists in his community. Members of the rally were not charged. CA

ENVIRONMENTAL & ANIMAL RIGHTS

Parents Fight to Protect Environment $23,000 for a broad range of programs for 15 children, ages one to 19, from five families. Some parents were beaten and arrested while marching against environmental racism, while others were attacked or imprisoned for their organizing work. CA, FL, GA

Environmental Racism Protesters Targeted $8100 for educational and sports programs and a CIF award for six children, ages five to 20, from three families who have spent years organizing against environmental racism in their communities and as a result faced targeting by employers and police. AL

Pipeline Protesters Persecuted $8000 for Model UN summer programs and homeschooling expenses for four children, ages three to 15, from two families. Their parents helped disrupt pipeline operations and bring attention to the impact of the fossil fuel industry. One parent was physically assaulted and another faced felony charges. NY, WI

Environmental Activist Targeted by FBI $2000 for tuition for the 16 year-old daughter of a longtime environmentalist and organizer. Her activist father has been called a domestic terrorist, threatened with imprisonment and subjected to multiple FBI raids for his efforts to save the planet. NY

Young Environmental Activist Expelled $1500 for homeschooling support for a 17 year-old who was expelled from school and harassed after he began a public protest every Friday afternoon to raise awareness of global heating. WI

Young Activist Faces Terrorism Charges A $1000 TAY Development Grant for a 24 year-old activist who was indicted under RICO and charged with domestic terrorism for their work to stop the construction of Cop City, a massive police training complex set to be built on sacred forests and in the middle of a largely Black community. GA

GENDER, SEXUALITY & REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS

Parents and Children Fight for Trans Rights $14,500 for tuition, music lessons and therapy for nine children, ages 11 to 16, from four families fighting for transgender rights. In response to the public-facing activism of the parents and their children, they received hate messages from around the world and some were swarmed by violent counter-protesters. One family had to relocate to an asylum state for trans youth. Location Withheld

Career Activist Faces Global Targeting $5100 for camp and related travel for three daughters ages four to 16 whose mom, a longtime movement leader in the U.S. and abroad, faced serious attacks from law enforcement for her efforts to expose the judicial abuse and corruption women experienced seeking legal support as survivors of domestic violence. Reproductive Justice Organizer Threatened $2000 for school tuition for a 14 year-old boy whose mom faced harassment as a result of her fight for reproductive justice. Location Withheld

Mother Threatened with Loss of Son $1500 for equine therapy for the 18 year-old daughter whose mother, an LGBTQIA+ rights activist, was threatened by the state with the removal of one of her children because of her organizing. OR

HUMAN RIGHTS

Parents Forced to Flee $6600 for summer camps, educational and sports activities and a CIF award for five children, ages nine to 19, from three families whose parents fled their home countries for the U.S. after their human rights activism put them in immediate danger. IL, NY

Father Pushed to Leave Country $2600 for tuition and a CIF award for two children, ages 14 and 19, whose dad established an interfaith mosque to counteract society’s bias towards Muslims after 9/11. He faced harassment and detention by the FBI and fled the U.S. to end the persecution. NY

Activist Mother Loses Work $2100 for dance classes and a CIF award for the 14 and 19 year-old sisters whose mom advocated against racism and rape culture in schools. In retaliation, she lost important contracts with the local schools and government and was forced to relocate. OK

IMMIGRANTS’ RIGHTS

Immigrants’ Rights Advocates Targeted $11,600 for school supplies and sports for eight children, ages six to 20, from three families. Their parents were targeted and threatened by ICE as a result of their work exposing injustices in the immigration system. Location Withheld

Dad Targeted While in Sanctuary $1500 for driving lessons for a 17 year-old girl whose father is an immigrants’ rights leader. Since being denied a stay of deportation and entering sanctuary, DHS and ICE officials have escalated threats and pressure against him. Location Withheld

LABOR & ECONOMIC JUSTICE

Mothers Fight for Equity in Schools $7600 for tuition, a drum set, a computer, speech therapy and a CIF award for five children, ages 13 to 19, from three families. Their mothers fought for inclusion and equity in their children's school systems, and as a result, faced targeting, loss of employment and harassment from school and district officials. AL, CA, GA

Mom Faces Workplace Discrimination $6000 for sports programs for four children ages nine to 17 whose mother was harassed and fired for forming a group within her workplace for employees to share stories of workplace discrimination and stand up for one another. TX

Mother Fired for Advocating for Anti-Racist Workplace $3000 for track expenses for two children, ages 13 and 18, whose mom was fired after she advocated for an anti-racist framework at her job. She was subsequently harassed, and her home was threatened, forcing the family to move. TX

Union Organizer Fired $2400 for summer camp and occupational therapy for the two and 13 year-old daughters whose mother was fired for organizing a union at her Starbucks. TN

PEACE

Children and Parents Working Together for Peace $6100 for a wide range of programs and a CIF award for five children, ages eight to 21, from three families in pacifist communities. Their parents have engaged in peaceful anti-war protests and many have been imprisoned for civil disobedience. NC, VA, WA

Peace Activists Threatened $5000 for dance, sports, camps and tutoring for three children, ages seven to 17, from two families. Their parents and guardians have repeatedly engaged in nonviolent protests and occupations against genocide and for global peace. One has been arrested and repeatedly doxxed, while the other has had drivers try to run her off the road as she travels the U.S. advocating for social justice. GA, ME

Support for Children of Torture Survivors $3500 for a group grant for occupational therapy and enrichment activities for kids whose activist parents survived torture in their home countries. The program serves 15 children, ages 12 to 24, from six families. IL

Activist Family Members Threatened and Charged $3000 for summer activities and a TAY Development Grant [3] for the 16 and 23 year-old siblings who have fought alongside their activist parents against genocide and human rights violations at home and around the world. One has been arrested and both have had police come unannounced to their home and schools to threaten and harass them. PA

Students Fight for Justice in Higher Education $1000 for a TAY Development grant for the 24 year-old college student who was beaten and charged with felonies for peacefully protesting the profound inequities in their state’s education system. FL

PRISONERS’ RIGHTS/U.S. POLITICAL PRISONERS

Mothers Threatened for Helping Prisoners $6600 for school expenses and a CIF award for four children, ages 12 to 21, from two families. Their mothers have been denied jobs or threatened with prosecution for advocating for individuals wronged in the criminal justice system. AL, NY

Former Political Prisoners Continue the Fight $5500 for orchestra, sports and healing support for three children, ages 17 to 18, from two families. Their fathers were incarcerated for anti-apartheid and anti-racist efforts, and both continue to face targeting for their work to free political prisoners and end human trafficking. GA, MA

Prisoners’ Rights Activist Surveilled $1850 for summer camps for four children ages 11 to 14 whose dad is a leading prisoners’ rights and anti-death penalty activist. As a result of his work, he has been arrested numerous times, placed on a domestic terrorist watch list and had his family placed under surveillance. AR

Son of Political Prisoner Targeted $1505 for summer programs and cooking classes for the 16 year-old boy whose father, the son of a political prisoner, has experienced harassment and job loss because of his own activism. VA

RACIAL JUSTICE

Fathers Fired and Harassed for Organizing $14,700 for daycare, tutoring, sports, music and two CIF awards for ten children, ages four to 21, from four families. The fathers all lost their jobs or faced police harassment for their public-facing anti-racist organizing work. CO, GA

Fighting Racism in Education Costs Families $5700 for educational support, summer programs and two CIF awards for five kids, ages nine to 21, from two families involved in the fight for racial justice in education. All have worked to improve equity in schools and universities and have been harassed and/or have lost their jobs as a result of their organizing. GA

Parents Threatened by Police $5300 for art supplies and developmental classes for four children, ages two to 15, from two related families. Their parents have been threatened and one has been jailed because of their work for racial and gender justice. OR

Social Justice Educator Endures Backlash $4000 for tuition and martial arts for the three and nine year-old children of an educator and social innovator who was fired, lost multiple contracts and faced public and professional scorn for calling out anti-Blackness in educational frameworks. FL

Mothers Persist Despite Violent Intimidation $2600 for homeschooling, art supplies and a CIF award for two children, ages seven and 20, from two families. Their mothers are leaders in the fight for police reform, immigration reform and racial justice. They have received death threats, attention from white supremacists and pressure to relocate their families. MD, WA

$3600 in CIF awards for 6 young adult beneficiaries from 5 families. Their parents are active organizers for environmental and reproductive justice, global human rights and more. FL, IL, MA, NY

$3500 to provide grocery gift cards for current RFC beneficiary families facing emergency circumstances.
