All of us – RFC staff and supporters together – have worked collectively to allow the RFC to award another $350,000 to our beneficiaries this past year.
We’ve been sprinting all-out for the last 12 months just to raise the funds to keep up with our 2009 granting pace, which was $50,000 less than our 2008 total. Many of you have come through for our beneficiaries in this special, 20th Anniversary year.
But now we need you to give us an extra burst of energy as we approach the annual finish line. We’re about to set our next granting budget, and for the last two years, too many children whom we’ve been supporting had to make due with less than we gave them back in 2008. Please help me to reverse this trend.
Our ability to return the RFC to its 2008 level of granting flows from you. Even if you’ve already given this year, perhaps in response to a 20th Anniversary event in your area, we need you to put us over the top by making a year-end contribution as well.
As the year ends, please think about Ramón, whose family faced down a racist lynch mob and whose mother was fired as a result; Joe, who endured tremendous stress when his mother also lost her job, this time for union activism; and the hundreds of other vulnerable children and their courageous parents who are working on the front lines of just about every progressive struggle in this country today. We must never let them feel that they stand alone!
Your gift now– in any amount - will help by connecting these children to nurturing programs, and insulating them from ongoing repression and right-wing attacks.
Your contribution is tax-deductible. I renew my pledge that 90% of the funds you contribute in response to this report will be awarded to the children and youth we are helping.
We are confident you agree that our advocacy for the children of targeted activists must not waver. If you’ve already given in 2010, this is the year to make that extra donation. If you haven’t given yet, please show your support by clicking here to make a year-end donation to the RFC now. Every gift really counts in a grassroots project of our size.
Your help has never been more critical.
