We are very excited to share that longtime activist and RFC Advisory Board member Angela Y. Davis and activist, educator, event producer, writer and spiritual guide Russell Shoatz III will be reading as Ethel and Julius Rosenberg for our upcoming virtual event, "The Rosenberg Case 70 Years Later: Fighting Fascism Then and Now."
Davis and Shoatz recently wrapped their portion of filming, reading selected letters by the Rosenbergs which were written during their time at Sing Sing prison. Among the many letters they wrote at that time, they shared their political views and personal stories about anti-fascist resistance. Davis and Shoatz bring these letters to life in our short film.
We hope you'll join us for one of two screenings June 14th and 25th (plus live Q&A with Rosenberg son and RFC Founder Robert Meeropol and RFC Executive Director Jenn Meeropol) to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Rosenbergs' executions. Our program honors Ethel and Julius' life and legacy and shares additional stories of anti-fascist activism from within the RFC community: fighting for racial justice, Indigenous sovereignty, climate action, the right to free press, immigrants' rights and reproductive justice.
