Coming Soon to a City Near You

Twenty years ago, an unfulfilled corporate lawyer with a remarkable personal history sat up in bed and realized what he wanted to do with his life: start an organization to honor his parents’ legacy and help kids who were experiencing the same sort of nightmare he and his brother did as children. That lawyer was Robert Meeropol, and the organization that he immediately got to work building was the Rosenberg Fund for Children.

To mark the 20th anniversary of the birth of the RFC, we'll be holding a series of 20 events, in 20 cities, over 20 months, starting now! Events are confirmed in coming days and weeks.

Attica Prison Visit Program in Trouble

In 2001, our Attica Prison Visit Fund became self-sustaining thanks to two very generous donors. As Robert Meeropol knows from his own experience, these visits are very therapeutic for the children of political prisoners. But in yet another sign of the times, we're sad to announce that for the first time in eight years the Attica Fund’s endowment is in trouble, putting this essential program at risk.

Beneficiary Spotlight: Meet Kalliope and Nicole

While we wish we could share all the details behind our grants with our supporters, our first priority is to protect the privacy of our grantees. However two RFC families have decided to share their stories with you. They are involved in efforts to oppose the Iraq War and safeguard the environment- progressive movements which have been among those most targeted for repression in recent years.

Executive Director's Report, Summer/Fall 2009

For the past year we’ve been asking supporters on our email list how best to communicate with you. Not surprisingly many of you have opted to receive our newsletter and fundraising appeals via email only. I admit this request makes an old-fashioned, 20th century fund raising guy like me nervous.

Talk to Us!

In our ongoing quest to reach out to new constituencies and to stay current with the technology our community is using to keep in touch, the RFC recently launched several online forums where you can connect with us in different ways.

Hundreds of RFC community members are already communicating with us — and with each other — through these forums.

You Came Through Again!

Thanks to our community’s response to our fundraising campaigns, this spring we were able to award 74 grants totaling $175,906; two are new awards and 72 are renewals. Because of our supporters’ generosity, we were able to reduce our planned granting cutback and at least partially fund all requests.
